Honorable Daniel Omaboe’s involvement with the PAYDP programme in Bubuashie, initiated by Honorable David Abalo in 2019, highlights the vital role of community leaders in promoting positive change and empowerment among young girls and men.
Over the course of three years, Honorable Omaboe and his team have worked closely with the PAYDP programme funded by UNFPA and Canada to mentor and support young girls, nurturing their talents and building their confidence, particularly in areas such as public speaking and peer education on adolescent issues. This holistic approach has not only empowered individual girls but has also had a positive ripple effect on the wider community.
One of the most notable achievements of the PAYDP programme in Bubuashie has been its contribution to reducing teenage pregnancy rates to their lowest levels. By providing comprehensive education and support, the programme has equipped young girls with the knowledge and confidence to make informed choices about their sexual and reproductive health, thereby reducing the incidence of unplanned pregnancies. He also formed the Men in Action program.
Moreover, the program has played a crucial role in boosting the morale of young girls in the community, giving them the confidence to actively engage with their peers and educate them on important adolescent issues. Despite facing initial challenges in getting girls to join and participate in the program, Honorable Omaboe and his team have persevered, demonstrating their commitment to overcoming obstacles in order to effect positive change.
Honorable Omaboe said, “The program has been able to nurture the young girl’s talent, build their confidence and also eradicate teenage pregnancy in the community “.
Honorable Omaboe expresses his gratitude to PAYDP under UNFPA for their support and impact in the community, emphasizing the need for continued sponsorship from donors to ensure the sustainability of the program. His endorsement underscores the importance of community-led initiatives in addressing social issues and building a brighter future for young people.
