Across the Globe, We Are United in Our Dedication to Children’s Rights
Who We Are
Purim African Youth Development Platform (PAYDP), was registered in 2007 as an organisation limited by guarantee (NGO) to among other things, advance the rights of young girls and women; through capacity building and expanded social and economic opportunities, with emphasis on vulnerable populations. PAYDP’s programme activities span Ghana’s sixteen (16) administrative Regions, reaching over 200,000 women and girls across the country, with focus on the Central, Ashanti, Greater Accra, Volta, Bono-East, North East, Upper East, and Northern Regions. PAYDP has worked with various partners; the UNFPA, African Women’s Development Fund (AWDF), FORWARD UK, MTN, Plan International, Housing Finance Company Ltd (HFC), Ecobank, Access Bank, and government institutions.
PAYDP has its emphasis on vulnerable girls such as, teenage mothers and Kayayei (female porters). PAYDP uses a multi-dimensional approach to reach out to the marginalized girls, including giving them accurate Sexual and Reproductive health information and services, Legal Literacy and Entrepreneurial skills, as well as sensitization on how to prevent and respond to Sexual and Gender based violence and harmful practices. Ensuring the wellbeing of adolescent girls and improving their lives in measurable and sustainable ways requires broad cross-sector commitment and integrated approaches.
Mission
PAYDP is committed to creating a conducive platform where all categories of people especially young people can have equal access to vital information through leadership capacity building to influence local, national, and decision-making processes.
Vision
To create young people who are self-confident, healthy and socially responsible, who are willing and able to change situations in their local communities through formidable networks and linkages.
